The wide adaptability of the ALPHA allows the attachment of virtually any external module or payload - from multi-spectral cameras (VIS, NIR, RE, filming cameras), to various sensors (weather, radiation, air) and cargoes.
The ALPHA platform is conceived to be a true open platform, where the user can be in real control. Every internal module of the UAV ( GPS, AHRS/IMU, ESCs, BATT, etc ), the user modules and the ground equipment are all part of the same virtual network, communicating via the universal DCP protocol. This provides a quick and efficient solution to the majority integration efforts.
Seamless handoff from WiFi to Cellular for Control and Video.
Link aggregation for higher throughput.
Dual simultaneous control channel - for extremely low latency and reliability (see DCPe protocol for details).
2x LTE & WiFi available as regular Linux network interfaces.
The modern UAV should never lose connectivity, whenever on the ground or in the air, whenever near home or far away. Thus UVIONIX has integrated the ultimate hardware and developed the state-of-the art software for the ALPHA. The dual versatile LTE modules, when connected to two different wireless carriers, offer an unprecedented coverage and connection reliability. When near the base, you can use the super-fast 802.11ac to reduce your data charges. The ALPHA will seamlessly switch both the Control and Video Streaming virtual channels to allow you to get the best and the most efficient link to your UAV at all times.
The unique coaxial design of the UAV is the cornerstone of the efficiency, stability and wide range of applications of the ALPHA.
But this is not all…
The ALPHA is designed to be tough and versatile, achieved with a modular approach:
The RX Module - based on an industry leading, latest generation ARM® Processor, the RX module is responsible for all realtime mission and safety critical tasks, that need to run all the time, 100% of the time on a Realtime Operating System (RTOS).
The LX Module - based on the latest generation NVIDIA® Jetson® TX1, running Linux - this is the ALPHA’s powerhorse
• Based on an Octa-core 64-bit ARM® Cortex®-A processor
• 256 GPU CUDA® cores, delivering over 1 TFLOPs of processing power
• Encoding and decoding multiple image streams simultaneously
• Supporting 4K @ 30fps and 1080p @ 60fps
• Interfacing up to 6x FullHD cameras simultaneously.

DRONE CONTROL PROTOCOLThe ALPHA is based upon a set of lightweight universal communication protocols, we named the “Drone Control Protocol - DCP", offering unprecedented capabilities in the industry - the integrator can communicate with any subsystem of the ALPHA and get any needed data.
For example, a user application can directly communicate with:
Same communication channel can be used to change numerous parameters of the system, for example:
The Drone Control Protocol comes in two flavors - the DCPi and DCPe. The DCPi (internal) is the major player ensuring the communication between all modules on the UAV and on the ground. The DCPe (external) is responsible for encryption, authorization and traffic prioritization, link mirroring and aggregation - ensuring data link between the UAV and the Control Center is safe, secure and efficient.
The Control Center is a critical component of the system - it represents the “Cloud” part of the ALPHA system.
Upon release of the ALPHA system the Control Center will be available both as Cloud and as a Hosted solution.
The ALPHA platform integrates state-of-the-art algorithms, controlling every aspect of the operation of the UAV, ensuring safety and efficiency.
